Matthew Wiley

Wicket-keeper/ middle-order batsman

Matt is a former Western Australian age-group representative who has gone on to play almost 100 1st grade matches in the WACA premier competition. He is a specialist batting and wicket-keeping mentor who currently bats in the middle order and is wicket-keeper for Melville Cricket Club.

Having spent a few seasons playing league & county 2nd XI in the UK, Matt played alongside many first-class cricketers and experienced the professional system. He has been mentoring wicket-keepers for numerous years and is very passionate about helping young players transition through the year groups and into senior cricket.

“I really enjoy working with young aspiring wicket-keepers and batsmen who wish to further their game into senior cricket and above. I found as a young wicket-keeper there were limited coaching options available which made it difficult to get the proper preparation and volume in to perform at my best. Wicket-keeping is about repetition. Players have to be patient and willing to put the work in. I get a lot of satisfaction out of watching young players train hard and improve.”
